Virtual Individual and Group Therapy
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is an effective treatment option for a variety of conditions. Some of these conditions include depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. It is also effective for those without a diagnosed condition such as those experiencing loss, a life transition, or stress.
There are a variety of reasons why therapy may be recommended for a patient. It is often the first-line treatment for certain conditions. In other cases, patients may prefer therapy over medications.
Together with Dr. Patel, you will decide if therapy, medication, or a combination of both is the appropriate treatment option for you.
Is therapy right for you?
Dr. Patel will complete a thorough evaluation with you during your initial consultation. Based on your discussion of your history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment, she will determine if therapy and/or medication is right for you. She will continue to evaluate you at all your future visits to determine how best to incorporate therapy into your treatment regimen.
If therapy is recommended by Dr. Patel, you may be encouraged to begin individual or group therapy. Both treatments involve weekly meetings with Dr. Patel.
Individual therapy sessions involve you and Dr. Patel only. You will meet for 50 minutes on a weekly basis. Together, you will identify your symptoms and determine your goals for treatment. Dr. Patel will work with you to create an individualized plan that may incorporate techniques from a variety of therapy types.
Group therapy sessions will include you, Dr. Patel, and up to 7 additional members. You will meet for 50 minutes on a weekly basis. Group therapy is designed to function as a process group. This arrangement will allow members to work together to help improve each individual’s understanding of his/her own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
